Solgar Astragalus Root Extract is commonly know as milk vetch, it contains many phytochemicals. Flavonoids, one of the phytochemicals, contain antioxidant properties that assist in decreasing oxidative stress.  They also help to fend the against free radical damage, prevent heart disease and cancer. Immune system function is improved and hepatitis, colds, flu and such infections can all be treated using Astragalus. This root extract plays a key role in regulating the beta cells that produce insulin so persons suffering from diabetes can be assisted in this regard. Astragalus is also a gentle diuretic, meaning kidney inflammation can be reduced.
